Synopsis[]
Jin makes his first formal appearance in chapter 94 at the end. He saves Rin from being crushed by Kazuha. He asks for Rin's name but she says she's no one and runs away. Jin comments about how his animal friends like Rin more than him. We next see Jin killing the large man with a cleft chin, who also possesses the talent of telekinesis. He sees Rin, who is struggling with her congenital heart disease, and takes her to a cottage safe house. He laughs at Rin thinking that the civil war of the talented is being causedby the enemies of humanity. He goes out to get food, but when he comes back he sees Rin kneeling in front of two dead students. He comforts her by saying she protected the dog while doing it. When Rin tells Jin about her talent, he guesses that she hates herself, and comments on his dreams and ambitions. Jin takes Rin up a small hill to see a meteor shower to help boost Rin's mood and show how small their war on the island is. We then get an example of Jin and Rin's fights. Jin does the combat while Rin transforms into an animal and waits the fight out. After finding a harmless faction of students, the duo learns that military aid is being sent to the island. Jin is weary of this news, he scolds Rin for thinking the military has no involvement in this talented civil war. When the ship starts to leave the students behind due to the teachers lying about when the aid would come, Jin protects Rin from the merciless canon fire. This causes a head injury. Rin takes Jin back to the cottage, he wakes up seeing Rin transformed into Kyouya. He comments on her unfinished business with her brother. When Rin tells him everything Jin vows to always remember her, Rin says that Jin's parents abandoned him and committed suicide, connecting his vow to remember her as his way of getting back at his parents. The duo form a plan to leave the island, but their supplies get swiped. They take out the last remaining group to get their supplies back. Rin returns from the fight to see Jin unconscious from his delayed cerebral hemorrhage. Rin takes Jin's form, steering the boat occasionally taking a bird form to watch for trouble. Jin wakes up one last time telling Rin to get revenge and become somebody, somebody kind. Jin is then taken into the care of back alley doctors. We see Rin come back to Jin five years later when Tsuruoka evacuates the island of the talented.
