'''Kyouya Onodera''' (小野寺 キョウヤ, ''Onodera Kyōya'') is the deuteragonist of the series. He transfers to the school on the same day as [[Nana Hiiragi]]. Coming off as unfriendly and rude. He is a cautious person who does not easily reveal his abilities. His observation and reasoning skills are on par with Nana's, and he is also an avid reader and very knowledgeable. 

==Appearance==
Kyouya has messy Pattens Blue hair and Azure eyes. He wears a navy blue school uniform but keeps his collar and tie loose.

==Personality==
Kyouya is a lone wolf with no apparent interest in what is going on around him. At first glance, he gives an impression of someone dark and dangerous, to the point where [[Moguo]] says that he probably killed someone in the past. However, as the story goes by, we see Kyouya's true personality: he is a somewhat socially awkward individual, who earnestly wants to make friends but has no idea how to. He is very straightforward with his desire to make friends, as he explicitly asks Nana and [[Fuuko Sorano|Fuuko]] how to make friends, and to be friends with him.

The most remarkable thing about him is his intelligence and deduction. Kyouya is a logical, rational, and observant person, as shown from the beginning when he discovers that two of his classmates are in a relationship (this is based on the fact that one of them had the left side wet and the other the right side, which meant they had been sharing an umbrella). Not only that, he anticipates some of Nana's plans on several occasions, demonstrating a great capacity for analysis on his part. Due to his intelligence and ability to deduce things, he has a suspicion of Nana's actions and suspects her to be behind the disappearances and deaths.

He doesn't know much about more commonly used slang (asking Nana what "swag" and "F-boy" mean) and seems to be more of an old-school type of person. He usually speaks peculiarly (using the outdated お前さん (''omae-san''), which is translated as "dear" or "kid") and has a taste for retro video games.

It has also been shown that he has various hobbies. In his room, he has a lot of various books on different matters, which makes it clear that he is a well-rounded individual with a wide variety of knowledge. He's probably an otaku, this is backed up by his fondness for manga, idol, and pop music, plus when he called his two classmates "gyarus".

==Talent==
Kyouya's immortality allows him to withstand attacks that would normally be fatal, such as fire damage and poison. It also grants him the ability to heal physical wounds. Despite his immortality, he can still feel pain to a certain extent and openly expresses his dislike for it. The main drawback is that he can't remember anything that happened more than two years ago, so he keeps journals to explain his circumstances to himself. His memory issues seemingly kick in as early as two months, suggesting that his brain deletes information often. He is rather meticulous about how he keeps his journals, fearing that someone may tamper with them to manipulate his memory. At a certain point, he stopped aging, as noted by his [[Rin Onodera|younger sister]].

Kyouya's was born to an unnamed mother and an unnamed father. Shortly after, his little sister, [[Rin Onodera|Rin]] was born. Their mother, also a Talented person, died under mysterious circumstances, leaving the two children to be raised by their father. Unfortunately, years later, their father died in a car accident. Their relatives refused to help them, leaving Kyouya and Rin to fend for themselves.

The two siblings moved into a shabby apartment, scraping together what money they could. Kyouya became Rin's caretaker and worked multiple jobs to provide for her. Rin, increasingly feeling like a burden on her older brother, decided to run away. After slowly and painstakingly editing Kyouya's journals to remove any mentions of her, Kyouya finally forgot about her over two years. After this, she ran away.

Despite this, Kyouya still faintly remembered her due to his muscle memory and began looking for her once he arrived on [[The Island]].

* Kyouya refers to others as "omae-san", which is translated as "my dear" (manga translation) or "kid" (anime subtitles). This is an outdated term (お前さん, ''omae-san'') that Japanese people rarely use in modern times.
* His sense of smell is non-functional, so he uses post it notes to know when things such as food have expired or spoiled.
