Nana board games

Nana with various board games

Sometime before Nana can recall her oldest brother left home. When Nana was a kid, she played a lot of board games. Her parents bought her new ones for her birthday each year. She mostly played them by herself, as when she challenged her classmates they got angry and didn't play with her. Once she tried making her own game so she could play solo since no one liked to challenge her to two-player games. Due to the number of games she has, her room was often messy, which upset her parents. Nana was also obsessed with manga, so she snuck out of the house to go to the convenience store which sold the manga first. One night after she read her manga from start to finish, her parents were killed. When Nana woke up that morning, she found the house was eerily quiet. She expected her mom to be making breakfast and her father to be watching TV, but she smelled blood. She went out of her room and saw her father's severed head on the table. Nana took her father's head in a frenzy trying to find anyone who could help, crying hysterically the whole time.

Koharu and Nana's realtives abuse

Nana relates to Koharu's story of abusive relatives.

Nana's parents had been questioning Tsuruoka and his motives for eliminating the Talented. Nana's father even formed a coalition with Koharu's father to expose the committee. Unfortunately, they underestimated the reach of the committee and their plot was found out and eliminated. Shortly before their deaths, Tsuruoka ran the idea of sending a young girl to the island to cause internal conflict covertly. To that end, Tsuruoka and the committee put it on the report that a thief had entered Nana's room through the window and killed her parents. Over the years Tsuruoka continued to brainwash Nana, directly and indirectly. Both Nana and Koharu's relatives whom they were left with after their parents were killed became abusive. In Koharu's case, it was to help silence her claims that the will her father left wasn't in his handwriting. In Nana's case, it was to instill self-hate into her to make Tsurouka's brainwashing easier. Several years afterward Nana finished her training and was ready to be sent to the island by the committee. She was fully convinced of the righteousness of this mission, to prove talentless superiority.

Nana's energetic introduction

Episode 1 "Talentless"[]

We see Nana standing right outside of the school, looking down at her phone which reads "Kill the enemies of humanity. Save ten million lives.". After Kyouya's ominous introduction to the class, the teacher informs the class of a second transfer student. We then see Nana running into the classroom doorway apologizing for being late. Nana introduces herself to the class in a very energetic fashion compared to Kyouya. Promptly telling everyone she has the power to read minds, however, she's bad at reading the room, shocking everyone. The Teacher sits Nana next to Nakajima, causing Nakajima to become nervous. Nakajima's demeanor catches Nana's attention, so Nana talks about him being bullied. Nana apologizes for being so blunt before Moguo interrupts calling Nakajima an 'enemy of humanity'. Nana acts oblivious to what the 'Enemies of Humanity' are, causing Nakajima to jump at the chance to explain them. This only causes Moguo to put him down, Nana stops this by calling out that Moguo only came over to ask Nana out. Nana asks why Nakajima is called a 'self-appointed leader', Nana continues to have a one-sided conversation with Nakajima before the Teacher snaps at her. Nana blurts out that the teacher will have the class vote on who becomes 'leader' much to the teacher's annoyance. Most of the room raises their hand before Moguo and Seiya assert their power over the class. Nana nominates Nakajima rather than herself causing even more chaos before Kyouya suggests the three of them duel for the role of 'leader'. Nana wonders why Kyouya left out loud to herself, seemingly oblivious to the tough spot she put Nakajima in.

Nana and Nakajima by the sea

Nana questions Nakajima's talent.

She wishes Nakajima luck in the fight before he says he will not fight Moguo and Seiya before storming off upset. Nana follows him continuing to act oblivious asking Nakajima to give her a tour of the island, to the chagrin of Nakajima. Nana says the tea is good, but he observes she's drinking soba water and wonders if she likes it. Nakajima's confusion about Nana boils up and he tries to inquire in a not rude way before Nana states his question bluntly. Nakajima comments on Nana's unusual demeanor, Nakajima questions further still trying to figure Nana out. Nana explains her talent by saying that she hears inner voices undistinguished constantly, and she has to concentrate to perceive someone's deeper thoughts. She says that her talent made public transport hard and she never made a single friend. She suggests they go to the seaside Nana tries to inquire about Nakajima's talent, but Nakajima says he has a good reason to hide it. He tells her that there are rumors that 'enemies of humanity' are already on the island, planning to hunt down the talented. For this reason, multiple students hide their powers, Nana gets knocked back by a sudden wind before she can protest. Nakajima saves her and asks what pushes her, before asking if it is an 'enemy of humanity'. Nakajima quickly gets embarrassed by how close he is to Nana, he suggests they go back to the dorms. At the dorms, Nana prods Nakajima more about being a leader and brings up his father when she notices his missing watch. Nakajima tries to use his nullification to stop Nana from reading his mind, but when this doesn't work, she snaps and tells her to leave him alone. Nana returns to the cafeteria to get Nakajima's watch and returns it to him shortly after making Nakajima rethink.

Diavolo

Nana reveals everything to Nakajima moments before he falls into oblivion.

Nana and Nakajima watch the match between Moguo and Seiya, after Seiya wins, Nana goes with the rest of the class to congratulate him. Nakajima sees Moguo is angry and unleashes his fireball at Nana and the others. This causes Nakajima to finally spring into action so he nullifies the fire when it gets close to him. The class's attention shifts from Seiya to Nakajima, and they agree to make him the leader. Nakajima and Nana go by the sea again. Nana gets some final details about Nakajima's talent, before pushing Nakajima off the cliff. Nakajima grabs the rope trying to hold on. Nana takes this opportunity to explain how she had been reading his mind, the cat scratch on his neck, him not turning the pages while reading a book. Nakajima asks if Nana is an enemy of humanity, Nana denies this saying that the talented are the real enemies of society, she says that she's been questioning if a talented would die if pushed off a cliff, before asking Nakajima to please die for the sake of humanity. She then prays for his soul after checking her phone to see that Nakajima has a potential kill count of one million.

Episode 2 "Time Travel"[]

Nana with The council

Nana is being assigned her Mission.

Nana looks at her phone after taking a bath, looking at the past incidents that the enemies of humanity have caused. The Teacher announces that the students will be training for battles near areas of water, before seeing that students are already on the log bridge. The teacher scolds the students saying he wants them to go one at a time and take this training seriously. Habu and Kaori are bullying Michiru for being scared of being on the log bridge. Nana sees Shibusawa clinging to the side of the log bridge, screaming at a flying classmate of his that he can't swim. Mogou asks Nana about Nakajima's absence, annoyed about it since after he became leader he seemingly ditched. Nana responds by asking if Mogou thinks something happened to Nakajima. We then see a representation of the origins of these 'enemies of humanity'. A hundred years ago the first enemy of humanity appeared, destroying a city, killing anyone it could.

Nana intervenes the fight with Seiya and Mogou while declaring her mission to kill all the talented.

But it wasn't an alien or a monster, but a human with the first known Talent. After that children with talents were born all over the world. The Talented children abused their powers to cause incidents that the talentless were unable to stop. As a conciliatory effort, nations launched some of the Talented to act as military police to counter the incidents and preserve peace. But this effort of cooperation failed, some of the talented used their powers for personal gain, and others plotted revolution. This led to a 5-year war ending in humanity's victory, though we aren't shown how humanity won. Time passed and people's way of thinking changed, and nations accepted the existence of the talented but kept them separate from normal society. A large proportion of people believe the talented are sent to training academies to fight the enemies of humanity. In reality the committee, the group in charge of the island, and the talented. They use this position to cut the talented off from society and leave them to die. This time they're sending Nana Hiiragi in to infiltrate the island and cause chaos.

Seiya tells Nana rumors of Shibusawa's talent.

Nana is told that she is to kill them all for the sake of humanity's survival. In the present Seiya freezes the pond with his power, seeing this training as a waste of time. While the teacher is yelling at Seiya for freezing the pond, Nana inspects it and sees that it's frozen solid even though it's 5 meters deep. Seiya boasts that in the face of his talent, the enemies of humanity stand no chance, causing Nana to call the Talented the real dangerous ones. Moguo yells at Seiya for showing off and freezing the pond, Nana recalls how the committee said that the Talented are naturally arrogant because they didn't earn their powers with effort likening it to the temptation to shoot a gun when it's given to you. They continue, saying that underdeveloped children can't be allowed to have that power and that killing them is the only way to bring peace to humanity. The teacher tells Nana to mediate Mogou and Seiya's fight to which she agrees while reaffirming her goal of peace for humanity. Nana talks to Seiya about his power, assessing its limits, seemingly planning on killing him next. She observes his tell, reading through his lies when she's interrupted by Mogou causing a ruckus, he nearly beats one of his followers before being knocked to the ground himself. Everyone's confused before Shibusawa speaks up, annoyed by Mogou's outbursts. Mogou is humbled by Shibusawa's display, thinking he froze time. This along with Seiya calling Shibusawa the strongest, catches Nana's attention shifting her target from Seiya to Shibusawa once she checks the latter's potential kill count.

Shibusawa and Nana handshake

Nana shook Shibusawa's hand despite being annoyed at his arrogance.

Nana goes to Shibusawa who is eating by himself, she greets him but he still eats, so she joins in eating with him. Afterward, Shibusawa reiterates what he told Moguo, he can't stand loud or slow eaters, and Nana points out he's a loud eater. Nana tells him she's interested in knowing if he's the strongest student in their class. Shibusawa brushes this off saying he gets bullied easily just like Nakajima. Nana tests this by spilling his glass of water when trying to grab his pickles. Shibusawa pants heavily after using his talent, indicating his talent puts physical stress on his body. Based on the two times she witnessed his power, Nana deduces that he doesn't stop time but rather goes back in time. Shibusawa is impressed by Nana's observation, thinking it's due to her ability to read minds. Shibusawa declares that he and Nana will remake the world together, describing how the world is rotten and overcome with poverty and discrimination. He proclaims how he never makes mistakes with his talent, this arrogance annoys Nana a bit.

Kyouya plays with pigtails

Kyouya's behavior causes Nana to be uncertain.

Kyouya then shows up out of nowhere, asking Shibusawa if he could investigate Nakajima's disappearance. Nana tries to refute Kyouya's claim of Nakajima going missing, but Kyouya ends up questioning what she knows. Nana didn't expect anyone to catch on to her actions this soon, also Kyouya messing with Nana's pigtails makes her question if he's using a talent to see the truth. Nana asks Kyouya why he's playing with her hair, but Kyouya doesn't give a clear answer with seemingly no other way out Nana takes control of the narrative. Nana suggests the enemies of humanity have something to do with Nakajima's disappearance to which Shibusawa confirms he's heard the rumors too. Nana then pretends to perceive an inner voice that she doesn't recognize, coming from Kyouya when she mentions that enemies of humanity take human form. This causes Shibusawa who already thinks Nana can read minds that Kyouya isn't trustworthy. Shibusawa questions Kyouya but Kyouya walks away saying he just wanted to make friends. With Kyouya gone Nana thinks that she can avoid any more trouble, but Shibusawa presses on investigating Nakajima's disappearance which Nana can't refuse or she'll risk raising his suspicion.

Nana and Shibusawa battle

Nana is anxious about Shubusawa's determination to see what happened to Nakajima.

Shibusawa goes into the past near the dorms and confirms what Kyouya said about Nakajima never returning to his dorm. Nana now notes how worn out Shibusawa looks, guessing that it could be a limit of his power but she doesn't know enough to form a plan against him. Shubusawa goes back into the past and follows Nana and Nakajima to the cliffs, but Nana sees him and sends him back to the present. Shibusawa tells Nana about his weak point with eye contact, Nana tries to dissuade Shibusawa from investigating further but he insists and tries to encourage Nana, still thinking the two of them are partners in changing the world. Shibusawa asks for the time they went to the cliffs, Nana hesitates Shibusawa notices this and asks if Nana is hiding something, Nana then gives him the time and lets him go there. She relies on her past self, then when Shibusawa comes back he tells her he saw them holding hands, but Nana saw him in the bushes. Nana confirms her memories were changed to be sure Shibusawa wasn't there when she pushed Nakajima off.

Nana says they should let it go for today seeing Shibusawa getting nauseated. Nana then goes to a shed and gets a shovel before going to Shubisawa's room and telling him about an enemy of humanity taking Nakajima. Shibusawa asks why she didn't tell him. Nana says she was unsure if he could be trusted. Shibusawa understands and agrees to go back and save Nakajima. Nana looks up and gets her shovel revealing they were actually on top of the frozen lake, since Shibusawa's talent wears him out psychically and he can't swim he didn't stand a chance, and with Seiya's ice trick, no one noticed even his corpse. Nana then prays for his soul, the next day Nana and Kyouya pass by each other, with their memories of Shibusawa overridden, except for Nana's since she remembers how she sent Shibusawa to his death.

Seiya attempts to flirt with Nana by telling her to read his mind but she directs his attention to his girlfriend to get him to back off. Seiya is taken aback by how Nana figured he was in a relationship. However, Kyouya interrupts Nana telling Seiya that it's been pouring since that morning. Yet, Seiya's left side is dry, and Shiori's right side is dry guessing that the two of them walked to class together under an umbrella. This annoys Nana, while Seiya and Moguo are too distracted by Kyouya's literal seaweed hair. During lunchbreak, Nana tries to invite Kyouya to have lunch together, but he declines so Nana follows him to see what he's up to. She sees him get milk from one of the vending machines and go into a shed, once he leaves Nana investigates the shed. Kyouya invites Nana to his messy room she is baffled at all the various objects and how unrelated they seem to one another before Kyouya offers her a controller. Nana is confused about Kyouya having a video game on the island, Kyouya defends his interest in retro video games saying that he assumed playing video games is what friends do, saying Nana can play with dress-up dolls instead if she would like but she declines in exasperation. Nana tries to get Kyouya back on track so she can get information out of him to which Kyouya explains he wants friends and thought Nana would know about that since she is friendly with everyone on the island. Nana suggests sharing commonalities, such as hobbies or weaknesses.

Kyouya states that others tell him he's not easy to approach, Nana affirms that he does tend to overstep boundaries to which Kyouya gets intense asking her what she means by that because he doesn't know what the word she's using means. After Nana explains her wordage Kyouya happily writes down the definition Nana is still baffled. Kyouya tells Nana he's an obsessive type Nana asks if that's why he's investigating Nakajima's disappearance, Kyouya affirms that he is curious about it when Nana asks further Kyouya reveals that his younger sister came to the island before him and she's been missing since she went to the island so he came to the island looking for answers, when his next door neighbor Nakajima goes missing, also Kyouya notes that the school doesn't seem to be looking for him despite how the school claims that the talented are essential for fighting the enemies of humanity. Kyouya expresses disappointment with the school training regimen he holds up one of his books, a manga that Nana expresses interest in saying it's her favorite manga, going on about how she resonates with the heroine of the story, while Kyouya laments that she has to kill her friends who have become monsters, Nana admires the heroine's dedication to her mission.

Nana's mind races wondering how Kyouya got Nakajima's watch when Kyouya forces her to come with him to the cliffs where he got the watch, there Kyouya fidgets with the tag of his uniform jacket explaining his fidgeting habit to Nana so he can ask to touch her pigtails but she declines. Kyouya asks Nana what she was doing on the evening of the 13th explaining his deduction for how he came to think Nakajima went missing on the 13th, Nana is annoyed by his observations, Kyouya explains that due to his lack of friends, he came across the broken guard rope and found the watch on the rocks below. Kyouya theorizes that Nakajima left the watch as a message since the watch was expensive, Nana insists she parted ways with Nakajima but doesn't think he committed suicide since he was so overjoyed about becoming the leader and protecting everyone.

Kyouya and Nana discuss Nakajima's disappearance.

Kyouya continues to question why the enemies of humanity would need to throw Nakajima off the cliff if they're built as murder machines Nana interjects that the enemies are intelligent, but Kyouya brushes that off as just a theory commenting on how there's no research on the enemies of humanity despite the government sending the Talented to the island. Nana's confusion and anger build up as she realizes Kyouya is more dangerous than Nakajima or Shibusawa. Kyouya proposes telling the school about Nakajima's disappearance, but Nana says that will cause a panic Kyouya agrees also pointing out that the school won't automatically believe his theories and reveals that he asked to hang out with Nana because she's popular and could perhaps convince the others. Kyouya affirms he does want to be friends with her, causing Nana to ask him about his talent Kyouya asks why she doesn't just read his mind telling her she's not a suspect since he doesn't think she has a motive to kill Nakajima.

Nana and Kyouya tell the teacher Kyouya's theory on Nakajima's disappearance.

Later Nana is in bed recalling a memory of asking the committee about the talents of her targets the committee deflects their inaccurate data saying that they can calculate how dangerous the talented are but cannot account for the talents themselves since they evolve. The committee told Nana it would be up to her to figure out what her target's powers would be leading Nana to guess Kyouya has a psychical talent, allowing him to get to the rocks below the cliff to retrieve Nakajima's watch. Nana thinks about the weaknesses she's seen in the talented so far and recalls something she saw in Kyouya's room using these she devises a trap to expose Kyouya's talent. Nana and Kyouya talk to their teacher about Nakajima's disappearance but the teacher panics and attempts to contact his higher-ups Nana remarks about how the teachers are in the dark about the real nature of the island just like the students. Kyouya laments that the factuality won't help him and Nana search for Nakajima, Nana questions if the cat Nakajima was feeding is okay, Kyouya tries to tell Nana that he's feeding the cat but Nana interrupts him with her air-headed persona.

Kyouya then does his usual routine of giving the cat warm milk all while Nana trails him from the shadows. Nana monologues about the island's true nature stating she has the advantage since her motive will be a mystery to anyone who tries to investigate. She continues noting her observation of his bathroom being clean while his room, that his trash bags were doubled as if to avoid the smell, and tomatoes on his desk with expiration dates listed leading Nana to conclude that Kyouya's senses are off giving her the idea of saturating the shed in gasoline so that when he lights the camp stove the shed will explode. Nana lets the cat run off after the shed explodes as she holds it so the cat won't get caught in the trap she laid for Kyouya. Nana observes Kyouya falling out of the shed and collapsing wondering what his talent is since it appears he didn't use it to escape the flames, just as she tries to leave to grab water and help Kyouya grabs her ankle sending her falling Kyouya questions her actions, why she showed up so quick, and why she looked utterly shocked. Kyouya states his lack of smell is not a cost of his talent but rather a natural birth defect so he envisions the weakness of his talent so only Nana can know it with her mind reading. After Kyouya leaves Nana vows that she will unmask Kyouya's weakness.

Nana is assigned to clean the classroom, as she is wiping down the chalkboard she overhears Moguo taunting Kyouya about the shed fire. Kyouya attempts to convince him and Seiya that he was attacked, but Moguo doesn't believe him even suggesting Nakajima is gone because Kyouya killed him. Seiya comments that it's about time for a new class leader since Nakajima's been gone for so long. Kyouya tries to get Nana to back him up, Nana notes that Kyouya won't drop his theory of being attacked making him the current biggest obstacle to her mission trying to think of a way to throw him off. Suddenly two girls burst into the classroom, with a third shorter girl following behind them. The two girls Habu, and Kaori show off a 'love letter' they found in the third girl Michiru's locker. Habu reads the letter out loud, the letter prompts Michiru to go to the flower beds after school to meet her 'secret admirer' Nana remarks to herself about how ridiculous this is.

Habu and Kaori continue to tease Michiru making her more embarrassed, averting her eyes from her two friends she notices an injury on Nana's thigh. Michiru asks about it to which Nana attributes it to a slip and fall Michiru comments on how painful it looks before slightly pulling down Nana's knee socks to lick the wound. Nana freaks out for a second before seeing that her injury disappeared Michiru smiles at Nana but her two 'friends' tell her not to show off since her healing shortens her lifespan Nana thanks Michiru commenting on how lovely her talent is. Later while in the bathroom Nana checks Michiru's potential kill count to discover she's estimated to kill over a hundred and fifty thousand Nana finds it strange since she thought Michiru was a good person but brushes it off not questioning her mission. When she exits the bathroom she spots Kyouya lounging outside the bathrooms, he says he's on his way to feed the cat but Nana knows he's stalking her.

Michiru is standing in the garden, as per the love letter, waiting for her secret admirer eventually, Nana comes forward asking if Michiru is waiting for her admirer while telling her she doesn't have to wait. Nana points to the bushes where Habu and Kaori have been hiding the entire time, the pair of bullies are annoyed at having been exposed for faking the love letter to make a fool out of Michiru and run off vowing revenge. Nana explains that she's been hearing nasty inner voices all morning, but in actuality, the love letter had a hidden message in the kanji saying "Michiru is stupid". Michiru cries since she genuinely thought Habu and Kori were her friends Nana apologizes for being blunt and asks Michiru out for dinner to compensate Michiru says she'd love to. They both go to the cafeteria picking rice off each other's faces and talking for a long while. Afterward, Nana laments how much Michiru talks thinking it would be harder to get information about her talent from her likening Michiru to a dog. Nana lists off the traits of Michiru's talent, such as only being able to treat injuries such as skin, muscle, or organ injuries, even bleeding. She's also able to heal herself but only if her tongue can reach Nana says she'll come from the back.

Nana opened the door and found Kyouya lying in wait.

Nana opens her door but spots Kyouya sitting outside her room Nana tries to get Kyouya to back off since it's late and he's in the girl's dorm but Kyouya insists that lack of sleep won't kill him and he sees Nana as a little sister suggesting they sleep together so he can sing her a lullaby since he doesn't have any impure intentions, Nana is put out by this and closes her door swiftly saying she listens to her music. Nana blasts music and exits through the window without being heard, she runs past Kyouya who just got outside, and bursts into Michiru's room. Michiru asks Nana why she's here but Nana calls out that there's an enemy of humanity at Michiru's window before lifting a gimlet above her head and stabbing herself in the back causing Michiru to rush to her aid. Michiru pulls off Nana's school uniform to get a better look at the wound before licking it so that it's healed.

Nana thanks Michiru while she insists that Nana not move too much. Nana apologizes to Kyouya saying that she heard the inner voice of the enemy of humanity from outside her window so she followed it hearing that it was targeting Michiru. Michiru affirms Nana's story since Nana was stabbed from behind. Kyouya asks where the enemy went but neither Nana nor Michiru knows attributing that to the enemy being the invisible type from the textbooks. A group of girls show up outside Michiru's room and go to help Nana just as Michiru is doing, as Kyouya is thinking about this situation Nana monologues to herself about the reason for this stunt, she reveals that covering up the disappearances would be tricky going forward so she'll instead make the rumor about the enemies of humanity being on the island come true. Nana stabbed herself to take on the role of the victim of the enemies of humanity changing the dynamic and gaining sympathy with the Talented to become their class leader.

Nana expressing regret at not being able to save Nakajima.

The next day Nana is still being questioned by Kyouya, who's trying to match the events of the night prior with his working theory of Nana being behind the two disappearances. Nana reaffirms her story about hearing the enemy of humanity from outside her window, Kyouya asks why Nana didn't ask him for help since he was right outside in the hallway. Nana says she was in a rush to save Michiru and apologizes for not asking Kyouya Michiru asks Kyouya if he really can't die and Kyouya says only he can't die he can't save others like Michiru can. Kyouya recaps the story and Nana says she thought the enemy would come through the window but it ended up being behind her Michiru and Nana nod in sync that they both didn't see the enemy. Kyouya insists that the story doesn't add up and Nana hearing Kyouya's inner voice asks if he's suggesting that there never was an enemy in Michiru's room. Nana thinks to herself that Kyouya's struggle to find the truth is futile reiterating that her motive will always be a mystery to Kyouya. Seiya and Moguo show up in distress about Nana being attacked last night whispers among the class start and the students are more convinced of the rumor of the enemies of humanity being real. Amid all the ruckus caused by Moguo and Seiya's rivalry over being leader Nana says she thinks Nakajima was killed blaming herself for it since she couldn't stop the enemy despite being able to hear the inner voices of the enemies. Michiru jumps in saying Nana should be the new leader insisting that Nana saved her. After a moment of silence, the class agrees with a trio of Moguo, Seiya, and Michiru praising Nana's character. Nana agrees to be class leader and smiles telling everyone to work together to fight the enemies of humanity, in the crowd of students a delinquent-looking student watches from a distance as Nana speaks more to the class.

The school is practically in Nana's control

After class, Nana asks Michiru to write down the student's powers over the weekend just in case. Nana praises herself on her progress and being able to make enemies of humanity appear and disappear any further deaths can be labeled heroic deaths fighting the enemies of humanity. Kyouya apologizes to Nana, acknowledging that she's a victim and expressing regret for suspecting her. However, Nana can sense that Kyouya is still suspicious of her. When Kyouya brings up the attack and speculates that it may have been carried out with a claw or a spear, Nana maintains her usual airheaded persona. Kyouya then mentions that they will have to come up with countermeasures and leaves Nana in charge since she's the leader. Nana is amused that Kyouya would bluff like that but does acknowledge that her use of a gimlet should be limited since enemies of humanity shouldn't need tools like that the method they kill with should look more magical. To that end, Nana goes out to gather plants and that night in the chemistry lab she makes poison wondering what effect it would have on Kyouya she continues to brag about controlling the class stating that so long as no one sees her crimes they should have no reason to distrust her.

On her way back to her dorm that delinquent boy from earlier says he needs to talk to Nana, she asks if his name is Hatadaira Tsunekichi and what he wants to discuss. Tsunekichi says Michiru stopped by and asked him what his Talent is and reveals to Nana that he can see the future Nana panics as Tsunekichi holds up a photo of her attempting to strangle him. Tsunekichi says it's strange that Nana is trying to kill him and not an enemy of humanity Nana asks if that photograph shows the future guessing he possesses spirit photography, Nana looks at the picture closely noting that the location of the photo appears to be in the PE supply shed and Tsunekichi's watch is pointed at 10 since the moon is out it appears to be 10 pm. Tsunekichi says he was hoping Nana could explain it. Nana tries to deflect saying she doesn't understand what's going on in the photo however Tsunekichi grabs Nana's arm and says he's hungry so he drags her to the cafeteria where he bangs on the door. Nana freaks out at this saying the cafeteria workers must be asleep but Tsunekichi tells her to shut up and that his power to see the future is way better than the other 'party magicians' in class and demands special treatment from the cafeteria workers.

Nana sees Tsunekichi's photo of her killing Nakajima

Nana comments on how bizarre and violent Tsunekichi is after Nana and Tsunekichi place their orders Nana continues to inquire about the photograph Tsunekichi explains he used to be an intelligent student instead of a delinquent, Nana is confused by this but Tsunekichi continues that he had an important test to determine the future of the students and his photos said he'd get a zero on it. Nana is more confused but Tsunekichi continues saying he studied hard to try and prevent the future that he saw and prompts Nana to guess what happened next. Nana correctly assumes Tsunekichi got sick on the day of the test, Tsunekichi is amazed that Nana can read minds, but Nana thinks to herself about it not being as uncommon as Tsunekichi thinks it is. Tsunekichi says the bizarre nature of fate is the punchline of his life Nana is slightly annoyed at the stupidity of the situation Tsunekichi wants to further prove his powers by showing Nana a picture of her with the soba on her head saying this picture will come true today, Nana attempts to debunk his claim by changing her order, to the lunch lady's annoyance, however, Tsunkeichi repeats that it's "Useless, useless" (無駄 無駄). Just as the lunch lady heads back to the kitchen she slips on the wet floor, sending the soba flying directly onto Nana's face. Tsunekichi uses this opportunity to brag about his power being absolute Nana asks what he wants to do now, Tsunekichi asks her about her killing him again and Nana denies it at first, however Tsunekichi reveals that he also has a premonition photo of her killing Nakajima and Nana stares blankly at the photo.

Nana determines her situation and how she can best solve it.

Tsunekichi tells Nana he received the picture of her pushing Nakajima off the cliff the day she transferred to the island. Nana then realizes his motivation, Nana puts on a show of desperation, denying that the photos happened. Tsunekichi remarks about how crazy it is that the class leader is a serial killer while Nana insists she'll do whatever she can for him not to show the photos to the rest of the class. This excites Tsunekichi who puts on a sleazy smile confirming what Nana thought about him using the photos to threaten her. Tsunekichi complains about how boring the island is Nana pieces together that he doesn't have friends on the island, so no one would take his word for her being Nakajima's killer. Tsunekichi mimes with his hand saying he hasn't seen a single enemy of humanity in his photos. He questions why he and the other talented individuals are even on the island, to begin with, and laughs to himself about the class leader situation. Nana remarks to herself about how Kyouya would love to see this new development Tsunekichi still miming with his hand accuses Nana of being an enemy of humanity since his photos show her trying to kill him.

Nana wonders if Tsunekichi's boasts about the future being set in stone are legitimate

Nana assures herself that her situation is manageable if she can destroy the photos and kill Tsunekichi, she continues her charade of desperation asking what she can do to make Tsunekichi trust her. Tsunekichi mimes his hands kissing while remarking about not having a girlfriend. A while later we see Tsunekichi forcing Nana to give him a back massage, Nana asks Tsunekichi if he thought about using his talent to help others. Tsunekichi brushes it off saying he detests working hard since he believes changing the future is impossible. Nana continues saying Tsunekichi could warn people when they were in danger, Tsunekichi laughs at that idea comparing it to when a doctor tells a patient that their illness is fatal. This annoys Nana causing her to label Tsunekichi unworthy of sympathy, Tsunekichi suggests he make Nana clean his ears while being naked, and Nana thinks about killing him right then and there. She presses her finger into Tsunekichi's back hard causing him to yelp in pain. Tsunekichi reiterates that his photos are absolute and that he is still alive in the photo of her trying to kill him making him confident that he'll survive to that moment. Nana ponders on this wondering if fate would intervene if she tries to kill him now, also noting that even causing a scene would create problems for her.

Nana determined to fight fate

Tsunekichi brings up how they don't know what happens after the picture that depicts them in the supply shed comes to pass, calling this whole situation crazy and suggesting staying in Tsunekichi's room until the time comes for that photo to happen. Nana gets up ready to leave but Tsunekichi stops her yelling at her to stay in his room. Tsunekichi belittles Nana reminding her he has the cards in his hand and that she will be his girlfriend whether she likes it or not. Nana agrees and Tsunekichi goes to bed holding his camera which Nana takes note of. That night Nana observes the process of Tsunekichi's camera producing the photographs, deducing that his dreams are the real prophecies while his camera brings them into the real world. Nana also figures he can't choose what future he predicts otherwise he would already know what happens after the photo in which Nana attacks him. While going through the photos Nana sees a particular one that causes her to freak out.

Nana being sexually assaulted by Tsunekichi

She hides that photo while remarking about how bad her situation is. She looks at the time, and after a while, she takes the camera from Tsunekichi's hand and photographs the night sky, confirming that the camera is a normal item and the power of prophecy comes from Tsunekichi. Nana concludes she has to destroy the camera as well since it will have the photo of her killing Nakajima saved, while in the supply shed she looks over at the jump rope she would use if Tsunekichi's photo comes true, wondering if fate is truly inventible but is resolved to fight fate. The next morning Tsunekichi wakes up commenting that Nana didn't try to kill him in his sleep. Nana tells him not to joke about that and Tsunekichi taunts Nana about it being useless for her to try to kill him since his photo still hasn't come true yet. Nana asks if he's ever taken photos that haven't come true in the past, and Tsunekichi asks if she's scared, but also states she shouldn't be worried about it since they're going to stay away from that PE shed until they know the outcome. Nana asks if there's really no avoiding ending up like they are in the photo Tsunekichi confirms saying they're both going to have 'fun' together until it happens and that there's no way of knowing when the photo will come true. Nana observes that the phase of the moon suggests it could happen as early as tonight. Tsunekichi demands Nana clean his room while doing so Nana ponders about what she can do next, worried about Kyouya or anyone else seeing something. Tsunekichi looms over her telling her he knows she's hiding something, Nana asks what he means by this and Tsunekichi states that he always has five premonition photos every night most of them aren't that special but occasionally he gets ones like the Nakajima photo. Nana inquires about the five premonition photos and he answers that it's a limit on his power he can only get exactly five photos a night but when he woke up this morning he only saw four photos and the four didn't look that critical. Tsunekichi then gropes Nana feeling around her chest for the last photo he checks it and exclaims about how obvious it is why she hid this photo. Taunting Nana with the photo of her lying on the floor of the PE shed with lifeless eyes, Nana says that there must be some mistake and Tsunekichi asks why she tried to hide if it was just a mistake.

Nana goes in for the kill confident her watch trick worked and her future can be changed.

Nana says she thought Tsunekichi would misunderstand the photo begging him to believe her saying she doesn't want to die asking him why she would attack him if she knew it would lead to her death. Tsunekichi tells her to shut up and that no matter what logic you try to use the future is absolute but Nana pleads that if they try hard enough she's sure the future can be changed and she says she knows he doesn't really want to kill her. Tsunekichi hesitates on that for a moment before suggesting that they both go to the PE shed tonight and if nothing happens at 10 pm he'll choose to trust her, Nana assures him that nothing will happen while thinking to herself that nothing will happen at 10 pm at least. Nana suggests she keeps cleaning while Tsunekichi takes a bath, when he leaves to do that Nana plans to kill him with her poison needles but she's interrupted by Mogou and his lackeys chatting loudly outside Tsunekichi's room. Nana withdrawals her plan and instead looks at Tsunekichi's watch and tampers with it, Tsunekichi comes out of the bathroom saying that while he doesn't want to kill Nana he suggests he may have done it out of self-defense Nana asks if that would truly be self-defense since the photo of her depicted the top of her uniform coming off as if Tsunekichi did something to her. Tsuenkichi brushes that off as a bonus since Nana is so cute, Nana is repulsed by this thinking to herself how she wouldn't allow Tsunekichi to kill her. Tsunekichi exclaims his excitement for that night and Nana asks if she can leave now since she'd like to take a bath as well Tsunekichi lets her leave but not before warning her that he'll show everyone the photos if she doesn't show up. That evening Nana is in the PE shed looking over Tsunekichi's kill count waiting for 10 pm she readies her needle case but it falls out of her hands she tries to grab it but Tsunekichi arrives right at that moment. Nana's hand grazes the jump rope and she remembers what Tsunekichi said about not being able to change the future, Nana goes on the attack thinking that since she set Tsunekichi's watch back ten minutes she was able to change the future.

Nana tells Tsunekichi that destiny is on the side of humanity

She brings the jump rope to Tsunekichi's neck and tightens her grip only for Tsunekichi to grab the rope making sure Nana can't pull her hands away from the rope while reiterating that the future absolutely cannot be changed he head-butts Nana and pushes her to the floor, Nana begs him to stop and Tsunekichi places himself on top of Nana revealing he had already changed his watch back to the correct time. Tsunekichi mocks Nana for thinking he wouldn't be hyper-aware of the time, he goes on stating that even if he hadn't noticed she wouldn't have attacked him until his watch said it's 10 pm regardless of what the actual time is. Nana says she's surprised and Tsunekichi says he knows Nana planned to kill him since she pulled the watch trick and he doesn't care about her motive thinking he can enjoy the future free of guilt. Nana however grabs his wrist before he's able to do anything to her body, she says she's surprised because she dropped her needle case and that an idiot like Tsunekichi noticed his watch was tampered with Nana finally accepts that he was right about his predictions being unavoidable. Tsunekichi's skin goes pale and his body gets colder he struggles to ask what she did. Nana reveals that during Tsunekichi's attack, he happened to drop her right where she dropped her needle case she then poisoned him right as he was taking off her school uniform, she's annoyed by how contrived the whole scenario seems but still accepts that Tsunekichi was right from the start. Tsunekichi wonders why he's dying when his photos showed Nana dying she tells him that he and the other enemies of humanity wouldn't understand that fate belongs to humans but she doesn't want to admit defeat and accept that she wouldn't be able to change the future.

Nana comes up with her story about Tsunekichi blackmailing her and being controlled by the enemies of humanity.

She explained her intention to devise a plan for luring Tsunekichi to a remote location after he insisted on staying in his room. She also knew he wouldn't let his guard down until he was assured of his victory Tsunekichi tries to get a last jab by saying the photo of her dying would still come true but Nana reveals that it wasn't a premonition photo at all. It was the bait to lure Tsunekichi to Nana's trap she hid it since it wasn't from his ability and she thought he might notice if she left it with the other premonitions, she wanted to wait for an opportune time for him to find it she didn't expect him to body search her though. She asks if her reaction made him believe that photo was real then shows him the actual premonition photo Tsunekichi laughs a bit before finally succumbing to the poison. Nana stands there until the lights suddenly come on thinking to herself how her real problem has just begun wondering how she'll get out of this as the actual premonition photo is of Kyouya and Michiru coming into the shed and seeing Nana standing above Tsunekichi's dead body. Kyouya asks what Nana is doing, and Michiru explains she hasn't seen Nana since last night and wants to give Nana the list of Talents she asked for. She also noticed Nana wasn't in her room tonight so she got worried and asked Kyouya for help, he approached Nana but before he could say anything Nana said she'd explain later and that right now Michiru has to save Tsunekichi. Michiru agrees and gets right to trying to heal him, Nana goes on her knees crying waiting to see what Kyouya and Michiru know before coming up with her story.

Screenshot 2024-07-20 084404

Nana laughs to herself about the irony of Kyouya saying the enemies of humanity can do anything.

Kyouya explains they asked everyone in the dorms about Nana. When they got to Mogou and his goons they told Kyouya and Michiru that Tsunekichi had been saying strange things about Nana. Mogou and the others didn't take Tsunekichi seriously but Kyouya and Michiru went to his room thinking something happened between Nana and Tsunekichi. Nana panics that Kyouya must have seen the premonition photo of her attacking Tsunekichi, Kyouya reveals that he knows Tsunekichi had precog powers, Nana despairs thinking she's truly cornered as Kyouya brings out the photo he used to find Nana, Nana looks over in worry only to see it's actually the bait photo she took to trap Tsunekichi Nana is exhilarated thinking she has a chance now. Michiru frowns and tells KyouNana that she couldn't save him Kyouya says Nana is lucky Michiru is a good person as soon as Michiru saw the lifeless photo of Nana she rushed Kyouya to the PE shed, Kyouya says he was worried for Nana as well. Michiru says she didn't know where to go but Kyouya led Michiru to the PE shed. Nana notes that there's a chance they haven't seen any other photos since they left after seeing her fake photo. To be sure Nana asks if they had seen any other photos of her in Tsunekichi's room Kyouya tells her they were in a hurry but he thinks he saw a picture of her with a noodle bowl on her face. Nana is confident that if Kyouya had seen the photo of her attacking Tsunekichi, he would have confronted her about it right away. Kyouya confronts Nana about why she's asking about other photos Kyouya would have seen Nana then finalizes her story, saying that Tsunekichi was threatening her with his premonition photos she claims Tsunekichi told her that he had a premonition of the enemies of humanity attacking him but when he got around to showing her the photos they were actually photos of her naked and bathing and he threatened to show them to the class unless she did as he said.

Screenshot 2024-07-20 085702

Nana thinks how lucky she is that Kyouya didn't see the incriminating photos, as he is coming up behind her.

Michiru exclaims about how horrible that is Kyouya seemingly accepts Nana's story and Nana gloats to herself about Kyouya not wanting to look at any more photos. Kyouya then asks how Tsunekichi ended up dying asking if Nana killed him. Nana asks him not to be so blunt and insists she's innocent. Michiru backs Nana up telling Kyouya she didn't find any wounds on Tsunekichi suggesting Tsunekichi might have had some illness. Nana counters saying it might have actually been an enemy of humanity saying that she sensed one nearby right before Tsunekichi died, Kyouya questions why he has no wound since the enemies of humanity have only been seen stabbing Nana with a weapon Michiru tells Kyouya that according to the textbooks the enemies can kill in all sorts of ways even with a thought or a curse. Nana thanks the two of them for coming to her rescue while also saying they shouldn't blame Tsunekichi for what happened, she'll tell the whole class about him tomorrow. Nana prays for Tsunekichi's soul, and Kyouya comments on how the enemies of humanity behave saying they can do anything. Nana thinks to herself about the irony that the Talented can time travel, be immortal, and predict the future wondering if Kyouya has any right to speak on the improbability of what the enemies of humanity are capable of. Michiru continues to cry over Tsunekichi having regret about being unable to save him telling Nana and Kyouya that she wants to try something on the body Nana leaves the shed and prioritizes getting rid of the premonition photos and the camera. As she gathers up the last of the photos she wonders if it was blind luck that Kyouya didn't find the more damning picture or if it was part of fate. Kyouya sneaks up behind her asking her what she's doing in Tsunekichi's room she tells Kyouya she forgot a few things in Tsunekichi's room when she was staying with him and then asks what Kyouya was doing in Tsunekichi's room.

Nana shocked at Kyouya being so close to the truth with his theories.

Kyouya assures her he's not there to steal nude pictures of Nana, but she doesn't seem convinced of that, he tells her he noticed something strange about Tsunekichi's body. He searches Tsunekichi's room Nana asks him why he explains that he's confirming whether or not Tsunekichi had any medication in his room. Nana asks if he thinks something other than the enemy however Kyouya says it's the opposite he's trying to eliminate all other possibilities, and Nana knows he's lying. Kyouya pulls out the lifeless photo of Nana again asking if it truly was a prediction by Tsunekichi why he died but Nana lived. She isn't impressed by Kyouya's attempt to find the truth, Kyouya quotes Tsunekichi bragging about his predictions always being right, while also asking Nana what he meant by "the craziness of fate is my life's punchline" Nana tells him it's a hip hop thing Kyouya says he only listens to Enka and Idol music. Nana wonders if Tsunekichi was wrong and that the future could be changed, Kyouya agrees with Nana since manga heroes defy fate all the time. Nana says she and Kyouya are good friends then Kyouya proposes that Tsunekichi's ability didn't produce the picture, Nana is shocked that Kyouya suspects that.

Nana gets to Michiru a little too late.

Then Kyouya points out how the rope is wrapped around Nana's neck twice, and that if it were a murder it would typically be wrapped around once since wrapping it around twice would allow the victim to escape. Nana says there's no guarantee that the murderer wouldn't double-wrap the rope, Kyouya agrees but notes that it is strange. Nana concludes that Kyouya will latch onto even her smallest mistakes and could potentially build a case from those if she's not careful. She asks Kyouya where Michiru is and Kyouya says she's still with the body after being inspired by Nana. Nana notes to check on her later, while in her room she looks over all the photos noting that there's one missing, she wonders if she left it in Tsunekichi's room but remembers she combed every inch of it already which means Tsunekichi must have had it on him. Nana bursts out of her room towards the PE shed but she's too late. Nana walks in to find Michiru already holding the photo of her and Nakajima, Nana asks Michiru if she's seen something.

Nana explaining Tsunekichi's spirit photo to Michiru

Nana stands over Michiru analyzing her movements noting that Michiru doesn't understand the photo. Nana plans internally to kill Michiru if she attempts to hide the photo. Only for Michiru to hand the photo to Nana, so Nana spares her, thinking she'll kill Michiru later. Michiru asks Nana what the photo means, and Nana tells Michiru it means Tsunekichi couldn't predict the future. She tells Nana she remembers seeing Tsunekichi's photos coming true in the past, to which Nana suggests his powers were stronger back then but had since grown weaker. Nana also says she heard something in his mind, that he was lying about predicting the future, instead his true power was turning his dreams into photos. Michiru is surprised and relieved that the photo was just Tsunekichi's dream and Nana posits that he dreamed this due to his jealousy about her and Nakajima being so close. She tells Michiru she'll get rid of the photo and asks Michiru to keep it a secret between them. Michiru is excited that Nana is sharing secrets with her Nana asks what she is trying to do with Tsunekichi and she tells Nana that while she's never succeeded in the past she was attempting to resurrect Tsunekichi. This worries Nana since she knows Talents can evolve she uses Michiru's action to rationalize why the committee's data is unreliable. Later at Tsunekichi's funeral, Nana tries to discourage Michiru from resurrecting since she would be an emotional wreck if Michiru died.

Nana attempting to talk Kyouya out of performing an autopsy on Tsunekichi

Kyouya makes a scene trying to get people to see the problem with the story of Tsunekichi's death, Nana tries to get him to stop but he demands to do an autopsy on Tsunekichi before he's cremated. Nana asks him to talk with her outside she asks him why he thinks Tsunekichi didn't die from an illness, Kyouya points out that he was assaulting Nana so it's convenient that he randomly got ill and died. Nana points out that his excitement could have been a factor in why he got sick she also notes that Kyouya is agitated asking him what's wrong. Kyouya says the shed explosion while he was feeding the cat was scary, Nana asks if he thinks that was a deliberate attack and Kyouya says she can read his mind. Nana confirms she can and she was scared by the explosion but knew about his immortality from back when he dragged her to the cliffs to discuss Nakajima's disappearance. Kyouya asks what she's getting at and Nana tells Kyouya that if there was a perpetrator behind the incidents so far, it doesn't make sense why they would target him since he can't die. It seems Kyouya didn't think that far ahead, which gave Nana the chance to use the premise that only other Talented are allowed on the island to her advantage. Nana now confident she's shaken Kyouya's suspicion even a little, boasts about it not mattering if he figures out the cause of Tsunekichi's death, but she doesn't want him to get too many clues.

Nana trying to find a way out of the zombie Tsunekichi situation.

As soon as Kyouya persists on the autopsy she freaks out chasing after him and begging everyone to stop him Mogou, and Seiya speak up but Kyouya is not deterred until the coffin opens from inside, and Tsunkeichi stands up, a boy with dark hair steps up next to the coffin telling Kyouya he doesn't need an autopsy when he can ask the deceased directly. Nana panics even more Michiru explains that Necromany is the dark-haired boy, Shinji's talent, and Nana gets annoyed at how often people with Talents that threaten her mission keep popping up so frequently. Shinji says he doesn't know why Kyouya wants to know but Shinji can figure out how Tsunekichi died as long as his body remembers, he also assures that even though Tsunekichi is a zombie he doesn't rot or try to eat brains. The rest of the class freaks out about Shinji's sudden appearance and display of power causing a blonde girl to come up and try to assure them that Shinji isn't a bad person. Shinji tells her to stay out of this, the girl says she's trying to cover for him being so creepy but he ignores her and turns his attention to Kyouya again, explaining the extent of his control over the dead. Nana interjects and asks him if he has any idea what the soul of the person he's controlling is doing, Shinji says he doesn't know, Nana then does a little improv to take control of the situation. She says Tsunekichi's soul is in pain, the class is even more scared hearing that and Michiru asks Kyouya not to go through with it. Kyouya tells Shinji he'd rather not have Tsunekichi be a zombie, the blonde girl asks Shinji to stop as well. Shinji says he is fine either way and gets Tsunekichi to retrieve the coffin lid and go back inside, the blonde girl keeps trying to assure everyone that Shinji isn't a bad guy, the teacher asks if he can bring in the Buddhist priest while Nana glares at Shinji as he sits back down with the blonde girl.

Yuuka thanking Nana for showing concern for Shinji and the enemies of humanity among them.

The next day Nana looks over Michiru's notes, going over Shinji and the blonde girl, Yuuka's profiles. She sees Michiru wrote Yuuka's talent down as super strength, she looks over and sees Seiya attempting to flirt with Yuuka but she threatens him saying he already has a girlfriend as he runs away she declares Seiya an "enemy of women". Nana goes up to Yuuka and asks her where Shinji is since she doesn't see him in class Yuuka says he's probably still in bed. Nana notes that Shinji's appearance at the funeral must be a rare case and Yuuka asks Nana why she's interested Nana replies that since she's the leader she wants to get to know everyone. Yuuka pats Nana on the back roughly and says she understands since there are supposedly enemies of humanity on the island she thanks Nana for caring about Shinji telling Nana he's always dark and calling himself necromancer like it's a good thing and he doesn't have friends. Nana tells Yuuka how shocked she was last night when she saw Tsunekichi moving around Yuuka tells Nana that Shinji wanted to show off and he's always been childish like that. Nana notes to herself that if she killed Shinji Yuuka would be the most upset. That evening Nana goes to the boys' dorm thinking if Shinji doesn't come to class she'll have to go to him, Shinji comes out of his room and walks off into the woods.

Nana and Kyouya listen to Yuuka's story about Shinji

Nana follows him and discovers he and Yuuka are a couple, Nana thinks to herself how convenient it is to have the two together so she can kill them at once. However, she's interrupted by Kyouya coming out of nowhere commenting on their choice of meeting up at night in the woods. Nana attempts to play along telling Kyouya she heard their voices and came to check on them. Kyouya tells Nana he's on patrol since she and Tsunekichi were attacked alone at night as well, Nana tells Kyouya he has the wrong idea about her. Kyouya states that if he were the serial killer he'd target Shinji next so the dead wouldn't incriminate him. Yuuka asks if someone is there causing Kyouya and Nana to spill out of their hiding spot. Shinji and Kyouya talk for a bit before Shinji leaves to go back to his dorm. Nana comments on Yuuka and Shinji's relationship, when Kyouya asks about the bandage on Shinji's hand Yuuka tells them a story about the two of them getting caught in a theater fire. Nana asks if Yuuka was the one who saved Shinji from the fire, Yuuka tells her she busted the emergency exit door open which is how she found out about her Hulk strength. Yuuka tells the two that she wants them to know that people like Shinji exist.

Yuuka pretending she can't use her powers due to allergies.

The next day Michiru and Nana are walking to training class Michiru is hesitant since she's not great at physical activity. Nana is exhausted from staying up all night on patrol. Michiru takes her to the infirmary to rest as soon as Michiru leaves Nana sits up and looks out the window planning to sneak to the boy's dorm room since Kyouya is tailing her at night. Nana sprints to the boys dorm looking over Shinji's potential kill count preparing to kill him. Nana knocks on Shinji's door but he appears to be asleep, his bedroom door is unlocked. Nana goes to Shinji's bed and inserts one of her poison needles into his neck, his eyes open but Nana tells him to keep sleeping and that his girlfriend will be joining him soon. Nana attempts to come back to the infirmary but hears a meow coming from a grate. She investigates and finds the calico cat that Kyouya feeds she gets back to the infirmary right as Kyouya and Michiru get there, and she bangs on the windows asking the two to help and to bring Yuuka as well. She tells Kyouya that while she was sleeping when she heard the cat's inner voice calling for help. Nana thinks to herself how she's basically admitting to being on the path that leads to the boy's dorm but she tells herself it's unavoidable. She then asks Yuuka to use her strength to lift the concrete grate Yuuka says she can't use her talent right now. Nana wonders about the limits of Yuuka's powers Kyouya tells the girls that it's alright and that the cat isn't hurt asking them to get cat food from his room so the cat will jump out of grate. Afterward, Nana thanked Kyouya for helping, he comments that Nana can assumedly hear the inner voices of animals Nana replies that it comes and goes. Yuuka apologizes for being unable to help, attributing it to being allergic to animals and her power not working while she sneezes Nana thinks this weakness is cute.

Nana being held down by Shinji while Yuuka taunts her.

That night Nana goes to Yuuka's room he internally apologizes to Yuuka since she doesn't seem like a bad person but she has a mission. Suddenly she's ambushed from behind by a shadowy figure Yuuka sits up telling Nana that Shinji saw everything for her. Nana berates herself for being careless she recalls being suspicious of Yuuka's fire story since emergency exits open from the inside so busting it open from the outside would have been impossible. Nana concludes that the real reason Yuuka didn't help with the cat is because she doesn't have super strength, further evidenced by how strong of a grip the shadow of Shinji is. Meaning the true necromancer has been Yuuka all along puppeteering Shinji from the start Yuuka declares that Shinji will never die she won't allow it. Nana comments on Shinji's lack of presence and his palm being cold as ice, Yuuka tells Nana to be quiet since it's nighttime and Nana grimaces. Yuuka apologizes asking if Shinji hurt her going on about how short-tempered Shinji was telling a story about how he got mad at a 98 test score questioning why he didn't get a 100.

Nana taunting Yuuka about her toying with the dead.

Yuuka says Shinji's always been soft with her before going on to tell the true story of the theater fire. She had gotten tea at the concessions while Shinji had gotten a melon soda, some rude guy knocked his drink over Yuuka and Shinji snapped at him spilling his melon soda over Yuuka as well. During the story, Nana notices Tsunekichi's necklace under Yuuka's bed.
