Rin Onodera is a the estranged younger sister of Kyouya. She is also the true identity behind "Jin".
Appearance[]
In the past, Rin wore her hair in high pigtails (similar to Nana's hairstyle), and was typically seen in her school uniform.
Presently, after being captured by Tsuruoka and experimented on, her hair has grown long and unruly. She wears a tattered hospital gown.
Personality[]
Rin's chronic illness makes her feel like a burden on the people around her, especially her brother. After the death of their father, these feelings are intensified. She feels horrible when others worry about her, and the constant worry from her brother brings her to a point where she feels suicidal and wants to disappear. The feeling of being a burden onto others cause her to be more of an avoidant person, placing distance between herself and others.
Usually, Rin is stubborn on showing her care towards others, shown by her trying to beat down her brother in front of her school friend, and when she reluctantly agrees that she actually does support her brother's dreams, which she is embarrassed to admit. Despite disliking getting close to others, Rin takes a great deal of care towards Jin's animals, and eventually, although reluctantly, Jin himself.
Rin is extremely crafty and cunning. Once Rin has a goal in mind, she'll do whatever it takes to make it work, even if it's at the expense of others.
Talent[]
Rin was initially believed to be talentless. However, thanks to a near-death experience, her talent awoke. Her talent is currently being used for experimentation by Tsuruoka and the rest of the government.
Rin is able to shapeshift into anything, as she is shown taking the form of a cat, bird, and butterfly. She can also shapeshift into only Talented individuals and copy their powers, though she can't shapeshift into normal humans, as she was not able to shapeshift into Tsuruoka. She must posses the knowledge that someone is Talented to be able to transform into them. In addition, the person who she shapeshifts into must be alive, as she was not able to turn into any of the students that Nana killed. Rin is unable to transform while other people are looking directly at her. To work around this, she distracts others, tricking them to look away so she can use her talent. Her ability to control the talents of those she transforms into is not perfect either.
Past[]
Rin mastering her brother's writing style
Rin has a congenital heart condition, which causes a weakened immune system and weakened stamina. She lost her mother and father at a young age, which forced her and Kyouya to move to a more affordable living area. The trauma of losing both of her parents and moving to a new environment worsened her fevers, so her brother made it his job to be her caretaker. She always felt like a burden with people having to care for her, so she decided to erase herself from her brother's life by rewriting the journals he kept to combat his amnesia. The slow process eventually worked, with Kyouya completely forgetting who she was. Rin began living on the streets for a short period of time. After almost dying while homeless, Rin's talent awoke.
Rin was then enrolled in school at The Island, where she met Kazuha. Rin refused Kazuha's attempts to take care of her. Later, due to Kazuha's obsession with being the strongest, she killed Shigeru, and tried to do the same to Rin. However, she was saved by Jin, who quickly took a liking to her. He took care of her despite her objections, and as the island became a battlefield, they decided to allign with each other. Rin eventually opened up to Jin about her past and her Talent, and he said that he would make sure never to forget her. Jin, in turn, told her about how his parents had left him and commited suicide when he was young. After protecting Rin from an attack by the army, he suffered a delayed cerebral hemorrhage. Rin brought him to the mainland and utilized back-alley doctors to stabalize his condition. This is when she decided to take on Jin's identity, and uncover the conspiracy behind the island.

Rin is currently locked up inside a prison at the managed camp, where Tsuruoka preforms talent-blocking experiments on her. She cannot currently use her talent much.
